Welcome, friends of Hendrik and Trudi Safaris!

This past week has been a memorable one here at Omitara Lodge. With our returning group still with us, we shared incredible moments, both in the bush and around the fire. As Hendrik often says, “It’s not just about the hunting; it’s about the connections we make along the way.”

Weather Watch

Exciting news—the rain has arrived! After weeks of waiting, the bushveld is starting to turn green, with new life springing up all around us. The rain has been a blessing, and it’s incredible to see the transformation taking place before our eyes.

Hunting News from the Desk of Hendrik

This week was a mix of trophy and selection hunting, and what a time we had! Some truly beautiful trophies were taken, but the best part for me was spending time with our younger hunters. Seeing them experience Africa for the first time, sharing stories about their universities in Germany, and enjoying the camaraderie that hunting brings—it’s moments like these that make what we do so special.

Laugh of the Week

One moment had us all doubled over with laughter. A waterbuck, true to its name, dashed into a waterhole to escape. Not to be outdone, our hunters stripped down to their undies and waded in to retrieve their trophy. Watching them splashing around and triumphantly returning with their prize was an unforgettable and hilarious scene!

Developments

Omitara is buzzing with activity! Between the rain and the energy of this incredible group, the lodge feels alive and full of promise. We’re working on small improvements to make your stay even more comfortable, and we’re excited about what lies ahead.

Closing Thought

As Hendrik reflects, “There’s something magical about sharing Africa with others—its beauty, its challenges, and the way it brings people together.” Thank you for being part of our journey. Until next time, may your adventures be as memorable as the ones we’ve shared this week.

Warm regards,

Hendrik and Trudi
